TBM – About Earth Hour

Earth hour is global event held annually every last saturday of March between 8:30 and 9:30 local time. It was organised by WWF or well know as World Wildlife Fund asking to turn off non-essential lights and electrical appliances in households and businesses for one hour to raise awarness to take action towards climate change. In 2007, Sydney was the first to action, and with 2.2 million residents who participated by turning off non-essential electricity, many other cities around the globe soon adopted the idea.  88 countries and more than 4,000 cities joined Earth Hour 2009, ten times more cities than Earth Hour 2008 who saw 400 cities participate.
