TBM – Music is No Art

June 1, 2009 - Leave a Response

For thousands of years Music has been calssified as an art. Now its a mear representation of sounds processed by computers and synthesisers.

Ever since the growth of technology, with mobiles phones, plasma tvs and cars. the technology of music has also evolved. From a piano to a manually inputed sound machine. To a guitar to guitar sound samples. Anything is possible to create music.

All a person needs to create to music is a few sound samples, a computer, and a program to put all those sounds together.

The program Fruity Loops is a software created to make music. It uses a large sample library and various Virtual Sound Technology Instruments (VSTi) to create music. Virtual Studio Technology (VST) is an interface for integrating software audio synthesizer and effect plugins with audio editors and hard-disk recording systems. VST and similar technologies use Digital Signal Processing to simulate traditional recording studio hardware with software. Thousands of plugins exist, both commercial and freeware, and VST is supported by a large number of audio applications.

For an example check out AntoAndHisSounds with his new song ‘Make Em’ Shake IT’. He also uses Fruity Loops.

As you can see the potential is endless. AntoAndHisSounds used the some simple samples and accapella downloaded to create this track. Ans as you can see it is powerful and effective.

Jim did not play for the NBL team becasue he would not be deemed legible for playing in the states. The American basketball system is much different than the system here. “In the ’states’, once you have been paid for playing basketball you will be able to play amateur basketball again,” says Jim.

“Playing in America has been a dream just recently but the only reason I want to go playe over there is to further develop my skills and hopefully come back and play in the Blaze. The NBA has been a wider picture but at the moment I am being realisitic.’

TBM – Role of Technology

March 16, 2009 - Leave a Response

Technology is ever growing and its plight seems to be infinate. In todays world of the fast paced lifestyle with mobile phones, fast cars and caffine our hunger for news is growing expodentially and traditional news sources are not enough.

News has risen from the papers, television and radio and onto the internet and even mobile phones. This is a gret step in news production, due to the fact that we had to wait each morning to read or wait until the evening news to know what is happening around the world or nationally. We can now feed our need to “know” instincts any time of the day seven days a week.
